How Far in Advance Should I Book?

We recommend booking as soon as you make vacation plans to ensure you get the kennel size you would like and/or to ensure we have availability.  During the summer months we tend to start filling up as early as March.

Do All Dogs Have to Show Proof of Vaccinations?

Yes, we also recommend you provide a copy of records prior to checking in to ensure a smooth and quick check in process.

How Are All the Animals Housed?

We have 3 different sized kennel options, 4x4, 4x6, and 4x8.  Each kennel has an elevated bed for your furbabies.  Each kennel has 2 bowls, 1 for food and 1 for water.  We can also provide an additional food bowl if same family dogs are being housed together.

Will My Pet Share Spaces with Other Dogs?

Only same family dogs can be housed together.

Is the Facility Loud or Are There Other Potential Sources of Anxiety?

When boarding there are always chances of higher anxiety with a new smells and sounds.  To help reduce that feeling for your pups, we recommend coming to tour and meeting our staff before their stay.  We also play classical music throughout the day and night to help keep the environment calming.

Are the Kennels Exposed to the Outdoors?

The kennels are indoors, and when it's time for potty breaks/outside time, we have 4 outdoor dog runs, 2 are 10x30, 1 is a 10x20, and 2 are 10x15.

How is Waste Managed?

We bag waste in dog bags and then it is put in an additional enclosed garbage can that is located in another area away from where the outdoor and indoor kennels are located.

What Kind of Food Will Be Provided for My Dog?

We do not provide food for dogs during their stay. If there is an emergency, we have Royal Canin Dog food (cost is $1 per 1/2 cup provided).

Will Your Kennels Fit My Dog?

As we have kennels/suites of 3 different sizes, we are confident that one of our kennels will fit your dog.  The owners of Unleashed Pet Services have five dogs, 2 Great Danes, 1 Collie, 1 miniature Cocker Spaniel, and 1 long haired Dachshund.  Our goal from the outset was to make sure we had accommodations that were comfortable for every size dog breed.

How Long Can My Dog Stay?

We do not currently have a limit to how long your dog can stay but for visits that are longer than 30 days there may be a deposit required.  For stays over this length of time, we recommend reaching out and inquiring ahead of time.

Will My Dog Be Put in a Kennel All Day?

We have 4 rotations of outside time throughout the day.  We strive to have them outside for longer periods of time while also ensuring that each guest gets the same amount of time outside.  We continue to come up with ideas to help make your pets stay more enriching, fun and safe.

Can You Accommodate Dogs with Special Needs?

We can accommodate dogs with special needs. We recommend reaching out prior to your visit so we can learn about your pet and ensure that we can properly meet their needs during their stay.

What Additional Services Do You Provide?

Currently, we have the following additional services: 30 minute walk for $15/per walk, per dog, and an additional $10 charge for afternoon pickups of dogs that were dropped off in the AM timeframe.  This is due to pet(s) staying an additional 6-8 hours longer.  Keep an eye on our Facebook page for future additions to our services as we strive to make your pets stay fun and safe.

Can I Take a Tour?

Yes! We offer a free virtual tour right here on our website so you can view our facility anytime. If you'd prefer an in-person tour, we’re happy to schedule one! In-person tours are $20 per dog and include a brief evaluation to help us get to know your pup and ensure the most comfortable stay possible.

How Often Are the Kennels Cleaned?

We spot check daily and throughout the day.  When any visible messes like hair, clutter, and/or accidents occur, they are cleaned up.  We clean/mop kennels after each guest checks out.  We also have weekly and monthly cleanings to ensure our facility is clean and safe for your pets.

Does the Facility Have Climate Control?

Yes, we have an air to air exchange system that is always on.  When we began our adventure with our facility, we worked with Independence Plumbing, Heating and Cooling who brought an engineer in to design a system that would meet our needs, which is clean and safe, with a priority on smell and infection control.  This system we have is designed for the max number of dogs we would have, and to reduce the chances and/or spread of infection.

How Secure Are the Kennels and Fences?

Our kennels are secure.  When we do rotations outside your dogs are supervised during their outside time 90% of the time.  The 10% they are not are when dogs are being rotated in and out of the kennels.  This is to further ensure the safety of your pet(s).

How Often is the Drinking Water Changed?

We change water regularly throughout the day as well as refill the water regularly throughout the day and as needed.

No, we do not currently have webcams at this time.

How Do You Keep to Each Dog’s Feeding and Sleeping Schedules?

We do have a routine for dogs when they stay with us.  We try our best to keep their current schedule but as we have our own routine here it is to further reduce anxiety with change.  Dogs thrive on routine and adapt to the routine of our facility quite nicely.

Can I Meet the Staff Who Will Be Looking After My Dog?

Absolutely! While our virtual tour introduces you to our facility, the best way to meet our team is by scheduling an in-person tour and evaluation. This gives you a chance to connect with the staff, ask questions, and help us learn more about your dog. In-person visits are $20 per dog and focus on making your pup’s stay as smooth and comfortable as possible.

Can I Book My Dog in for a One-Night Stay to See How He Likes It?

Absolutely, however there are periods of time throughout the year where we have a 2-night minimum stay.

Are Any Other Services Provided Like Grooming, Nail Clipping, and Bathing?

At this time we do not offer grooming of any nature.  However, we have goals in the future of offering several other pet related services.

What Are the Hours of Pickup and Drop-Offs?

We have pickup/drop-off hours daily.  They are 8:00AM-9:30AM and 4:00PM-5:30PM.

Do You Have Any Days That You Are Closed For All Services?

Yes, we will be closed for all pet services on the following dates: January 10–12, April 4–6, May 19–21, and October 19–30. Thank you for your understanding!

Do you have any minimum stay requirements throughout the year?

Yes, we do.  During our busy summer season we do typically require a 2 night minimum stay.  We do also have a 2 night minimum stay around Christmas week.  These time frames of minimum stays can fluctuate and change, and we will update this section to reflect as such.

What if I want or need to cancel my booking how much notice do I need to give?

Currently, we require a minimum of 24 hours notice of cancellation or change in your pups length of stay.

Do you have any days of the year where you do not have any pickup or drop off times?

Yes, we do.  We do not have pickup or drop off times on: Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

Do you have any days where you have limited pickup and drop off times?

Yes, we do.  We do not have afternoon drop off or pickups  on: New Year's Eve.  We do not have drop off or pickup hours in the mornings for: New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Mother's Day, and Father's Day.  There are times throughout the year where if we have no pickups or drop offs scheduled and we are 1 day from that day that we will shut off pickup and drop offs to focus on the pups currently in our care.

Do you have any additional fees besides boarding that can occur?

Yes, we do.  If a pup comes to stay with us and needs 3 or more medications provided per day, there is a $3/per dog per day charge.

If a pup is dropped off in the Morning and picked up in the afternoon as this requires 6-8 hours more of additional care and prevents that kennel from being booked that night there is an additional charge of $10.

We do also carry food on hand, but it is for emergency use only.  We do not permit check in without your pups food as changing food too drastically can cause digestive issues.  The food we have for emergencies is Royal Canin, and when used, it is $1/per 1/2 cup.

Our final fee that can occur is special pet care/behavioral fee.  This fee can occur if a pup is discovered or informed to have significant incontinence issues, human or significant dog aggression, or destructiveness, and/or but not limited to other significant behavioral issues.  If this is told or discovered during their stay we inform the family of this issue and they can decide if the pup can be picked up or will have to have an additional fee of $50/per day per dog for the significant additional care and management this will cause for the pup and/or pups.   These prices are subject to change at any time to further accommodate and meet the needs of our clients.

Question 34

Why does Unleashed Pet Services require dogs to be at least 16 weeks old and fully vaccinated before boarding or training?

Accepted Answer

Because dogs in our care, especially puppies in board and train programs, are exposed to shared spaces, increased handling, and new envrionments, we require a minimum age of 16 weeks and completion of all vaccinations with no boosters outstanding.
