Training & Evaluation

Our Training Philosophy
At Unleashed Pet Services, our goal is to help dogs become calm, reliable companions both at home and in real-world environments. Training is not just about teaching commands, it’s about building clear communication, engagement, and structure so dogs understand how to make better choices. Training is led by Lead Trainer Hilary Weber, with additional structured sessions conducted by Trainer Bret Weber. Dogs intentionally work with multiple handlers during training, so they learn to respond reliably to different people, not just one trainer.
Balanced Training & Tools
Our training uses a balanced approach, combining positive reinforcement with clear guidance and fair corrections when needed. This allows dogs to understand both what behaviors are expected and what behaviors should stop.
Dogs are first introduced to skills using food motivation and engagement, then progress through hand signals, verbal commands, leash communication, and training tools when appropriate. Tools may include training collars such as prong collars or e-collars, which are used carefully and responsibly to create clear communication and reliable responses.
Balanced training helps dogs gain confidence, clarity, and consistency, allowing them to make better decisions even in distracting environments.
Real-World Training & Owner Involvement
A well-trained dog should be able to listen and respond outside of the home. Throughout training, dogs are gradually introduced to real-world environments such as structured walks, parks, and pet-friendly locations when appropriate.
Owner involvement is also an important part of long-term success. We work with owners to ensure they feel confident continuing their dog’s training at home so the results last well beyond the training program.
Training Evaluation: $45
Most dogs begin with a Training Evaluation. During the session we will:
• Assess obedience and behavior
• Discuss training goals
• Identify problem behaviors
• Recommend the best training path
Evaluation sessions typically last 45 minutes to 1 hour.
